Art by Tasha S.
About
Tasha is an Afro Indigenous artist, writer and researcher who works in the realms of metaphysics and education. Their work is grounded in high fantasy, Afro-futurist visions, and Black feminist imagery. It is through in-depth exploration of molecular memory and ancestral engagement that their art has channeled collective and ecological healing.
By examining the reality of how art, especially that of the visual kind, can open portals for recovery beyond the manufactured colonial modalities, Tasha’s environment places importance of knowledge and wisdom which dwell outside corporations and institutions, instead shifting attention to oral histories and communication, as well as the emotional emphasis of spiritual consciousness.
This site not only encompasses the majority of their artistic practice, but is a visual testament of their entire ritualistic world that challenges the concept of people as isolated individuals, or planets as individual worlds; instead portraying them all as an integrated, resilient life force.

"The Sun Has My Back"
Spoken Word Visual Poetry
"The Sun has my back;
For it is the disk held by my ancestors who were warriors, soldiers, athletes, poets, writers, philosophers, but most of all alchemists, who often turned their trials and tribulations from struggle to favor.The Sun has my back;
For it warms the blood that has traveled eons and galaxies to pump through my very veins.The Sun has my back;
for it is married to the moon, their light ever shining brightly on my integrating shadow, assuring my place at the rightful table."
